my all time favorite glasses

I am a drinking glass snob, and these are almost absolutely perfect. Repurposed glass. The same good feel in the hand as the original bottles. The same beautifully-hued glass as the original, but with what seems like even more interesting visual texture. They are the right heft, they are the perfect size for a drink with dinner, or my water-glass left on the windowsill. Easily washed with a bottle brush--I highly recommend the wooden/natural bristle one available though the Life Without Plastic boutique.

My only only complaint is that the very firing process that turns them from stout bottles into slender glasses takes away some of their strength, and they are more fragile than I would have expected. But, then again, I don't think they are any more fragile than most glassware--they just don't have the strength of the original bottles, which I guess I was unrealistically expecting. Then again, to make them stronger would be making them thicker, and that would decrease their current aesthetic appeal.

So, even though we have broken a couple (d'oh!) they make drinking a pleasure and when I break too many I will still be ordering more. (I just don't let the kids use "my" glasses. ; )
